The CSDS Deputy Director Luiza Khlebnikova co-organized the IV students conference on Jewish studies at MSU

The CSDS Deputy Director Luiza Khlebnikova co-organized the IV students conference on Jewish studies at the Department of Jewish Studies of the Institute of African and Asian Studies, Lomonosov Moscow State University, that was held on April 27-29 2021 on Zoom.
Students from MSU and other universities of Russia participated in the conference. The conference program was divided into three sessions, on history, economics and culture and philology. The topics of the presentations dealt with various issues, including matrimonial relations in the Sephardic Jewish community of the Early Modern Age, the formation of American-Jewish identity, the resettlement and adaptation of Ethiopian Jews to Israel, the impact of gender inequality on Israeli economic development, the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for the Israeli economy etc. Special attention was paid to the peculiarities of the perception of the tragedy of the Holocaust in the Arab states and in the countries of East Asia.
 
The event was organized with the participation of the Genesis Philanthropy Group and the Russian Jewish Congress.
